Lenten Cross
project
Host churches provide the setting (usually in a vestibule) and help to create interest in the project with its members. The basic commitments that groups make in hosting this project are to:
•
Designate space for display;
•
Provide information to their members through prepared bulletin inserts or notices, newsletter stories, and announcements from the pulpit;
•
Appoint a church member as a primary contact for the project.
Chattanooga Endeavors will provide all of the material to conduct the project, including:
•
Lenten Cross, stones and display;
•
Instructions for participants and literature about the project and Chattanooga Endeavors;
•
Bulletin inserts and announcements;
•
Webpage on the project with additional information for download;
•
A series of reflections to help participants understand the mission of Chattanooga Endeavors and the reason for prison ministry.
As the opportunity arises, a qualified member of the staff or board will be available to speak to groups about the work of Chattanooga Endeavors, the world of crime and corrections, and the role of the faith community in establishing a just society.
