To improve public safety by restoring former offenders to productive roles in society through training, counseling and education programs that remove the barriers to meaningful employment and that teach skills for today's workforce.
RE:CONX provides care packages to released prisoners and links them with services that help with food, clothing, shelter, employment and counseling. A letter from you to the person you are sponsoring is included in the package acknowledging your church’s support and welcoming him or her home on behalf of the broader community. And a trained volunteer helps recipients consider how to reconnect with the faith community.
There are 500 prisoners coming home every year – and they all need our help. To sponsor one or more during their transition, just designate a contact person at your church, complete the commitment form, and send (or schedule) payment of $395 per sponsorship.
We will identify the prisoner, make contact with him or her prior release, assemble the care package (see inventory), and designate a volunteer to counsel with the recipient on your behalf. We will additionally provide you with the name and a photograph of the person you are sponsoring, a prayer request from him or her and list your church on our website as a RE:CONX sponsor.
This is a simple and straightforward way for you to answer the call to bring prisoners home to their faith communities. We will be happy to supply you with additional literature, meet with you in person, or make a presentation to members of your church.
