MISSION
To improve public safety by restoring former offenders to productive roles in society through training, counseling and education programs that remove the barriers to meaningful employment and that teach skills for today's workforce.
 



  Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities at CEi range in intensity and vary according to interest and abilities. If you want to become involved in our mission in a way that is not represented below, please get in touch with us.


  Client Support

Case Management Data Entry
Creates new accounts for participants with online case management program; scans and uploads documents; updates accounts with outcomes of established goals. 
Commitment: 2-3 hours on a weekly, semi-weekly or monthly rotation.

Community Service Project
Coordinates community service projects for participants; transports participants to site; oversees activities; evaluates participant performance; conducts debriefing and provides constructive feedback to participants and CEi staff. 
Commitment: 2-4 hours once every three weeks.

Community College Tour
Coordinates field trip to CSTCC for participants; transports participants to site; conducts debriefing and provides constructive feedback to participants about seeking technical skills to advance their career. 
Commitment: 2-4 hours once every three weeks.

Employer Presentations
Human resources managers, general managers and hiring supervisors make speak with participants about employment opportunities at their companies and how to succeed in today's workforce. 
Commitment: 2 hours on a monthly or quarterly rotation.

Hospitality
Provides refreshments for 3-5 individuals just released from prison and participating in our RE:CONX project.
Commitment: 2-4 hours on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly rotation.

Institutional Correspondence
Answers letters from inmates; provides information about CEi admissions and other services as needed; carries on limited pen pal correspondences with State inmates from Hamilton County serving long sentences.  
Commitment: 2-4 hours a week.

Senior AIDES Coach
Coaches 1-5 Senior AIDES assigned to CEi through Alexian Village Senior Neighbors; conducts monthly team meetings; advises participants on occupational goals; assists participants transition from training positions to the competitive world of work. 
Commitment: 1-2 hours a week.

Status Calls
Calls participants at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 18 month intervals; conducts short online interview; updates records with employment status and other relevant information. 
Commitment: Flexible commitment. Can be done from home.

Testing Monitor 
Administers tests to participants; provides instructions; reads questions aloud (or monitors completion); scores results.
Commitment: 2-4 hours every three weeks.

Topflight Presentations
Top level executives give lectures to participants about life lessons they have learned on the way up the corporate ladder.  The initial 20 minutes of the lecture are videotaped and posted online. 
Commitment: 2 hours on a recurring annual rotation.


  Community Involvement

Bella Sera

Church Liaison
Serves as the primary contact for sponsoring churches; makes agency information available to church members; advises CEi staff about church activities and opportunities for agency involvement; responds to referrals about former offenders seeking a place of praise and worship. 
Commitment: As needed.

Kick'n Chick'n

Thanksgiving Meal Boxes
Coordinates board members and volunteers to purchase non-perishable items for Thanksgiving dinners; packages items in boxes; organizes distribution to current CEi participants. 
Commitment: November 1-30, 20-25 hours.

Toys For Tots
Register CEi with the local Toys for Tots Campaign; process requests from participants for assistance; accept donated toys from Marine Corps Reserve Unit; sort and distribute these toys to registered children.
Commitment: December 1-30, 20-25 hours.


  Office Help

Candidate Scheduling
Calls candidates that have been referred to CEi; confirms their eligibility; and schedules them for orientation session.
Commitment: 2-4 hours on a weekly or monthly.

Mailing List Management
Adds new contacts to donor management application; makes corrections to existing contacts; updates donor records with new cash, non-cash and service donations; processes bounded emails; conducts annual updates of services directory.
Commitment: 1-2 hours on a weekly schedule. Can be done from home.

Volunteer Scheduling
Keeps volunteer schedules current; updates online volunteer calendar; sends confirmation emails; places reminder calls; periodically collects feedback for quality assurance.
Commitment: 1 hours on a weekly schedule. Can be done from home.
